SONIC DUST liner notes:

When we arrived in London in 1991 everything changed. Our musical style or genre, “late 80s post punk / dark wave”, which – to us – was really cool and underground, at least in Cologne and Germany (because it was the opposition to everything commercially successful then): Neue Deutsche Welle and mainstream German language pop – was definitely out in England. Originally from Manchester (again) came a new Indie movement called rave which sent all shoegazers and wavers home. In the end it meant that now you added dancy drum-loops to indie tunes, got Djs to remix your singer/songwriter stuff. You combined sloppy indie band stuff with break-beats. Lucky for us: we had a new manager, Eric Härle, who was totally into it and also managed a few acts from the ‘hot new scene’. The most popular of our mates back then was Moby, then in the same position as we were: He just quit is Punk Rock band in New York, bought a Yamaha keyboard and tried to say something in the musical language of the time, which was Techno / club / dance music. So we did experiment a lot. I guess as far away from dark wave as you can go. The result was an album with songs which were not that bad at all. But the production was not clear. Kind of average, sloppy indie studd. No special sound or deep atmosphere. Something we were pretty good in – before.
