“One of the most ethically driven and environmentally conscious post-punk artists of our time… this latest offering is sure to go down in the band’s record as one of PTB’s most powerful releases” ~ The Spill Magazine

“Consistent purveyors of quality guitar-laden post punk and dark-bent indie rock… one of the most honest and most direct enduring acts in post punk today” ~ Destroy // Exist

“The timeless message is driven home with a timeless sound composed with refined effect” ~ Post-Punk.com

“There are bands which have had high ranks in the charts and still have a place deep in the heart of many fans. One of those bands is the German Dark Wave legend Pink Turns Blue” ~ Reflections of Darkness

“‘You Still Mean Too Much To Me’ from their ‘Tainted LP, an anthemic song that channels a personalized situation to dark sonic gold. We’ve all been there – this music is emotionally harsh and sublime” – The Big Takeover

“When it comes to actual darkwave, Berlin’s Pink Turns Blue are rightly regarded as one of the founding acts… up to the present, they have also been one of the finer exemplars of continental postpunk” ~ CVLT Nation

After their worldwide success with their album ‘Tainted’ and their often-sold-out club concerts in America and Europe, the next studio album of the post-punk legends from Berlin will be released on Feb 28 2025, followed by a club tour through Germany in April.

The new album and the tour are titled “BLACK SWAN”, the term for an unexpected event, which in retrospect is justified as if one could have prepared for it.

With their last album and accompanying tour, Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Luca Sammuri (bass) and Paul Richter (drums) have cleared pretty much everything you could wish for as a band. Album of the Year at Byte FM, best of 2021 at Post Punk Com, singles at number 1 in the German Alternative Charts as well as the Indie Disco Top 40, excellent reviews in the worldwide music press and very well attended, if not sold-out club concerts from Los Angeles to Yerevan, especially in Germany, of course.

There will be some single pre-releases, then the album on vinyl, Compact Disk and download/streaming on February 28 and finally the German tour in April/May before it goes around the world again. Please find the complete biography on Pink Turns Blue – Wikipedia

LYRICS:

Black Swan (But I Know There Is More to Life)

While I do feel ok
Have many good friends
Have a really good time at times

While I travel the earth
See the wonders of world
Chill in the sunshine

Fancy reading and learning
Understand the universe
Make a living alright

Seems like nothing’s missing
I can make ends meet
While I’m biding my time

But I Know There Is More to Life

When I look around
See people passing
A face of despair

When I look at you
Can see your sad eyes
In search of substance

There might be many ways
To cope with boredom
Or mere exhaustion

There might be many ways
To entertain
Or numb the senses

But I Know There Is More to Life

I’m trying hard
Not to waste my time
With too easy lies

I’m trying hard
To make sense of it all
Without excuses

I’m trying hard
To make a difference
Leave a mark in this world

I try to be part
Of something useful
Of any relevance

Cause I Know There Is More to Life

What is the song about?
This song is about pondering about your goals / aims in life.
At the very end, you will review what you have done with the time that was given to you.
If you think the purpose was to enjoy life – did you do it? If you think your purpose was to be good and make the real world a better place – have you really tried?
If you think life doesn’t make any sense at all – why did you act like you did?
Some encounters and events left an impression, other events made you aware of the beauty and the wonders this world. Maybe the only thing that can really make you wonder whether there is something divine at all is LOVE. So, did you make sure to find or give love? To someone special, your partner, your parents, kids, anyone in need. Is it good to be good? Is it important to search for something deeper?
Or am I just hopeless? Trying too hard?
